Professional Experience

I am a print journalist of more than 15 years. On Saipan alone, where I lived and worked for 11 years, I was a full-time journalist for four major publications: Marianas Variety, a locally owned, independent newspaper; Island Locator Magazine, Beach Road Magazine, and Marianas Business Journal. Moreover, I also did freelance jobs for Asia Gaming Brief and Nikkei Asian Review, as well as Guam Variety and Guam Daily Post.

Public Relations

While working as an associate editor for Marianas Variety —the oldest and leading newspaper in the Marianas— I was designated as chairperson of the PR/Media Relations committees of the nonprofit organization, Stellar Marianas, and the 70th Anniversary of the Battles of Saipan and Tinian organizing committee. Moreover, for a couple of years I concurrently served as PR specialist for the islands' leading creative agency, Taro Leaf, the same team that gave me the opportunity to work on a major political campaign.

Web Design

A logical move in my career is to transition into doing digital news. Since 2016, I have been refining my HTML5 and CSS3 skills. Although still a neophyte, I have managed to produce functional websites for startup companies.

Marketing and Advertising

I am grateful to have had the privilege to work with Glimpses Advertising, one of the biggest creative agencies in Micronesia, as production coordinator. In this capacity, I supervised the Saipan operations: overseing the completion of projects, networking on the ground, liaising with business partners, and supervising a team of graphics designers and freelancers.

Graphics Design

From designing print ads for a Philippine newspaper's marketing department in 2003, I later ended up overseeing the redesign of Island Locator Magazine on Saipan. Most recently, I did the book designs for a series of Filipino translations of the American classics such as "Old Man And The Sea" and "Scarlet Letter" (Note: I did the translation work, too!) This was followed by concert posters, digital ads, ticket designs, logos, political campaign and marketing materials. In my sparetime, I find fulfillment designing birthday cards for loved ones.

Before I became known as a reporter, I was a textbook writer and proofreader for the University of the Philippines' Sentro ng Wikang Filipino, and other publishing companies in Manila. At 22, I became a co-author of a biology textbook written in Filipino. To augment my income, I also did ghost-writing for several history textbooks.
